Academic Programs

NPU's Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs are designed to prepare students for the practice of engineering, computer science, and business administration at a professional level. In addition to courses teaching the fundamentals, each degree curriculum is designed to be connected to Silicon Valley's major industries in electronics, computer engineering, information technology, enterprise management, and global business development.

As Silicon Valley is a dynamic and fast changing high-technology hub where fierce competition among businesses is the norm, employers are more demanding on workers' qualifications. Job seekers in the Valley are required to be well prepared in their background training as well as continued education.

NPU's curriculum committees in various disciplines hold regular meetings to ensure that the curriculum design and facility support in hardware and software can meet industry standards. Further, faculty members must have had previous or current industry experience and are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and skills in their teaching subjects.

NPU offers following degree programs for both undergraduate and graduate students:

I. Bachelor's Degree Programs

  • BBAIS (Bachelor of Business Administration and Information Sciences)
  • BSCS (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science)
  • BSCSE (Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Engineering)
  • BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering)

NPU's programs are designed to prepare graduates for the practice of engineering, computer science, and business at a professional level. Like most institutions of higher learning, the University believes that, in addition to the depth of specialization, all students must have some knowledge, understanding, and awareness of the three main areas of a liberal education:

  • Humanities and Communications
  • Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Physical Science
  • Social Sciences

Applicants who do not have 30 semester units of transferable college credit are considered freshmen and must submit the following to apply to NPU:

  • Official high school and college (if applicable) transcripts.
  • Results of the SAT I: Reasoning Test, taken within the last two years.
  • The SAT Institution code for NPU is 4335, or NPU's Entrance Assessment Test upon joining NPU.

II. Master's Degree Programs

  • MBA (Master of Business Administration)
  • MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering)
  • MSCSE (Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering)
  • MSCS (Master of Science in Computer Science)

Qualified prospective students must hold a valid bachelor's degree, graduate before attending NPU, or, for applicants who have completed a program outside the United States, provide documentation verifying that the program is equivalent to a bachelor's degree program in the USA.

NPU requires applicants for the MBA degree program to either take NPU's Entrance Assessment Test upon joining NPU, or submit your GMAT scores taken within the last two years.

NPU's Institutional code for reporting the GMAT/GRE scores is: 5485.

Applicants to a graduate program who do not hold relevant undergraduate degrees will be required to take specified undergraduate courses to make up the deficiencies. Applicants will receive an Evaluation Report and Study Plan once they have been admitted to the university.

In addition to meeting the English Proficiency requirement for all students, a graduate student is required to complete a college-level English language course or a communication course after meeting its prerequisite requirement. The student may complete this course at NPU.
