Application Procedures
I. Prepare your documents
The application documents you need to prepare are:
- Online Application or a completed and signed Application Form
- A nonrefundable application fee of $60 (in U.S. dollars) in any of the following forms: (a) money order, (b) credit card, or (c) U.S. check. Please make checks or money orders payable to: NPU and please do not send cash.
- For degree pursuer: Official transcripts (in English) from all previous colleges attended and a photocopy of degree certification document if any degrees earned. Freshman applicants submit official high school transcripts and a photocopy of the diploma.
- Please be noted that we only accept the official transcripts in English. If the degree certification document or the diploma was not issued in English, a certified translation in English is required.
- Foreign transcripts may require evaluation by a qualified credential evaluation agency. (Click here to view the list of the credential services accepted by NPU.)
- English requirement for degree program applicants: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to either (a) provide proof of English proficiency or (b) take NPU's English placement exam after reporting to NPU.
Any of the following 6 options can satisfy proof of English proficiency:
- Graduation from an institution where English was an official language,
- Having completed a college-level English course at an institution where English was an official language,
- Meeting NPU's minimum TOEFL requirement: a score of 550 on the paper-based test, and 213 on the computer-based test,
- Earning an above average SAT-1 verbal score,
- Having completed advanced English language courses (ESL) at NPU or at English institutions recognized by NPU,
- Passing NPU's English Placement Examination (EPE) conducted prior to the students' first semester at NPU.
If you have taken IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or other similar exams, please contact the NPU Admissions Office for proof of English proficiency.
In additional to the above documents, international students should also submit the following:
- A recent financial support document (issued within 6 months before application) indicating that a minimum amount of $24,000 (for degree program applicants) or $18,000 (for ESL program applicants) is available to you for pursuing your study at NPU in the first year. You may choose ONE from the following:
- A bank statement or verification letter of your bank deposit, or
- Notarized I-134 form (Affidavit of Support form designed by the U.S. Immigration Office) to be completed by your financial guarantor, or
- A bank statement or verification letter of your financial guarantor's bank and a Guarantor/Sponsor Letter signed by your guarantor.
- For Transfer Students: If you are an international student currently holding F1 status with another U.S. school and want to transfer to NPU, please also submit the following:
- Transfer Clearance Letter completed by an international student advisor at your last school. This must be done either before you leave the last school or soon after you leave the school in order to maintain your F1 status.
- A photocopy of your previous I-20 (first page only)
- Photocopies of your passport, I-94, and visa.
