Student Health Insurance

All students are required to purchase a health insurance plan while studying at NPU (also while on trimester break). NPU offers a student insurance plan through Aetna at reasonable rates. Cost of insurance can be found on our student payment webpage.

About the Insurance Plan

 

The NPU student Health insurance plan is offered by Aetna U.S. Provider Network and administered by Global Benefits Group (GBG). The plan includes extensive pharmacy and doctor networks and focuses on ease of use for all members. When you visit a participating provider or pharmacy, all you will need to do is present your ID card at the time of service, and they will file all claim forms on your behalf.

 

Enrolled students can find a complete list of providers by visiting AETNA or access the provider directory.  Please note, to access this list, you must select “United States” in the drop down menu.

 

In-network doctor visits have a $25 copay at time of visit and prescription is subject to a $30 copay on generic drugs (Tier 1), $60 copay on preferred brand name drugs (Tier 2), and $100 copay on any non-preferred brand name drugs (Tier 3). More information regarding copay’s can be found in the NPU Student Health Insurance Plan brochure.

 

To visit the insurer home page and to create an account please visit www.gbg.com and select member login. Through this account, you will be able to file a new claim online or check the status of an existing claim.

How do I get my Northwestern Polytechnic University Aetna Student Health ID Card

 

Insurance cards will be issued directly to NPU. Once received, NPU students be notified by email to collect the card from the Administration Building, Room 804,  located at 47671 Westinghouse Dr. Fremont, CA 94539
