About the Insurance Plan:
The new student health insurance plan for the 2008 year will be offered by The Chickering Group and administered by Acordia of California Insurance Services, Inc. The new plan includes very extensive pharmacy and doctor networks and focuses on ease of use for all members. When you visit a participating provider or pharmacy, all you will need to do is present your ID card at the time of service, and they will file all claim forms on your behalf. Very common pharmacies such as Longs, Walgreens, and Sav-On are included in the network. You can find a complete list of participating pharmacies and care facilities by visiting the website at: http://www.aetna.com/docfind/custom/chickering. You will need your zip code to search for providers and pharmacies in your area. Attached is also a list of Hospitals and Urgent Care Centers located within 10 miles of the campus.
If you were enrolled in the health plan in previous years, please be aware of the plan changes and modifications that have been implemented for the 2008 year. 24-hour Nurse Advice line services are now included in the plan and can be utilized by calling (800) 556-1555. The out-of-network Emergency Room coinsurance has been increased to 80%. The 2008 plan waives the deductible for any outpatient doctor visits. In-network doctor visits will require a $30 copay at time of visit and prescriptions will be subject to a $20 copay on Generic drugs, $30 copay on Preferred Brand Name drugs, and $50 on any Non Preferred Brand Name drugs.
You should receive your ID card within 6 weeks of the plan effective date. If you need to see a doctor or pick up a prescription prior to receiving your ID card, please contact the Plan Administrator, Acordia of California Insurance Services, Inc., at 800-853-5899 and they will be glad to assist you.
