NPU Tuition Scholarships

The NPU tuition scholarship program was established to honor meritorious and multifaceted students. NPU offers the chance to win a tuition scholarship for new applicants as well as current students.

President’s Scholarship (Bachelors)

Northwestern Polytechnic University grants a full tuition scholarship to approved qualified applicants in the bachelors programs.

Minimum Eligibility for Consideration:

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Applicants must be applying for bachelor’s degree in computer science (BSCS) or business administration and information sciences (BBAIS).
  • Standard admission requirements; PLUS
    1. Minimum cumulative grade point average (high school or any college level) of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
    2. Minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 22. If SAT or ACT was taken multiple times, the highest score will be considered. SAT or ACT requirement is waived if 30 or more units are completed at a community college or another University in the U.S.
    3. Personal Statement.
    4. At least one letter of recommendation by a teacher or professor.
  • Minimum eligibility does not guarantee a scholarship. The university reserves the right to deny an application for any reason.

Terms:

  • 100% tuition scholarship.
  • The distribution of the full tuition scholarship is based on the completion of the program entered and degree earned.
  • Half of the tuition scholarship will be issued each semester, which requires a student out-of-pocket expense of 50% of the tuition each semester. The remaining tuition scholarship will be issued upon the student’s program completion and degree earned at NPU, which will be in a form of a refund of the Student’s out-of-pocket tuition payment.
  • The student is required to pay fees (approximately $400 per semester).
  • The student is required to pay for health insurance (approximately $300) unless waived.
  • The tuition scholarship payments shall not exceed the program’s minimum total credits required for completion.
  • The student is required to enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per semester (unless eligible for a semester break) and maintain a minimum semester GPA of 3.3. In addition, a minimum grade of “C” is required in all courses.
  • The program must be completed within 12 semesters, excluding breaks.
  • The student must maintain good standing with the university by upholding the university’s academic standards and integrity.
  • If the student is unable to meet any of the terms, the tuition scholarship will be rescinded and no further tuition payments will be made including the refund of any out-of-pocket tuition payments upon completion of the student’s program.
  • The university reserves the right to rescind a scholarship if it deems the decision to be in the best interest of the university.

President’s Scholarship (Masters)

Northwestern Polytechnic University grants a full tuition scholarship to approved qualified applicants in the masters programs.

Minimum Eligibility for Consideration:

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Applicants must be applying for master’s degree in computer science (MSCS) or business administration (MBA)
  • Standard admission requirements; PLUS
    1. Minimum cumulative grade point average (undergraduate level) of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
    2. Minimum GRE score of 308 for MSCS program applicants or a GMAT score of 610 for MBA program applicants. If GRE or GMAT was taken multiple times, the highest score will be considered.
    3. Personal Statement.
    4. At least one letter of recommendation by a professor.
  • Minimum eligibility does not guarantee a scholarship. The university reserves the right to deny an application for any reason.

  • If the student is unable to meet any of the terms, the tuition scholarship will be rescinded and no further tuition payments will be made including the refund of any out-of-pocket tuition payments upon completion of the student’s program.
  • The university reserves the right to rescind a scholarship if it deems the decision to be in the best interest of the university.

Academic Excellence Scholarship (Bachelors)

Dean's Scholarship

NPU scholarships for new applicants are merit-based financial awards offered to qualified applicants interested in pursuing degree programs at NPU.

Qualifications:

  • The cumulative GPA from the official transcript, required for admission to the intended degree program, is at a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • The applicant's resume or Statement of Purpose clearly describes the applicant's academic goal, previous experience in community services or extracurricular activities, and if applicable, work experience
  • If the applicant's native language is not English, he/she is required to have the test administering organization mail his/her TOEFL/IELTS score directly to NPU. The required minimum scores for scholarship awards are: TOEFL - 90 (IBT), or 233 (CBT), or 577 (PBT); IELTS - 7.0 bands.

If the applicant is granted the scholarship, he/she will be awarded with a tuition scholarship of $500 per semester for three semesters, a cumulative tuition scholarship of $1,500, provided that the student enrolls full-time, maintains satisfactory progress in his/her academic study at NPU, is in good standing, and has contributed to the activities sponsored by the NPU Student Association, or any NPU student club, or participated in professional society activities.

Application Deadline

Interested applicants must apply for the scholarship and submit the required documents along with his/her application materials by the deadline for the admission term. The scholarship application deadline for each term is in general three months before the term begins.

Outstanding Student Scholarship

To reward current NPU students who have demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, a tuition scholarship of $1,000 each will be awarded to ten students annually. The scholarship will be awarded in the fourth week of the fall semester.

Eligibility:

In order to be considered for this scholarship, students should meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be a registered NPU student for at least two semesters.
  • Must be in good standing by maintaining a minimum CGPA 3.8 and above.
  • Must be recommended by a faculty member.
  • Must be a member of at least one of the NPU clubs and should participate in extracurricular activities.
  • Must be active in a professional society.
  • Must make a personal Statement of Purpose (SOP) presentation. The SOP should include a narrative on skills, qualities, and reasons why the scholarship should be awarded to you.

Selection Process

The scholarship recipients will be selected by the NPU Scholarship Review Committee.

Application Deadline

The application and supporting documents should be received by the Scholarship Review Committee before June 30th.
