Application Procedures
IV. Admission Evaluation and Reply to the Degree Program Applicant
- Once the NPU Admissions Committee receives your complete application documents, it conducts an evaluation of your application. Based on the program curriculum and prerequisites described in the current catalog, the committee members review your official transcripts to determine the following:
- Whether you meet the admission requirements – previous academic background and GPA,
- Verify your official transcripts; foreign transcripts may require verification by a qualified credential verification agency in the U.S.,
For qualified applicants, then:
- Follow NPU's credit transfer policy to transfer credit,
- Generate an evaluation report,
- Prepare an acceptance package including the NPU president's welcome letter, Dean's welcome letter, an admission checklist, a copy of the evaluation report, and for an international student, an I-20 form prepared by NPU's designated official.
- It takes an average of 1-2 weeks for making an admission evaluation described above. Depending on the applicant's choice, the acceptance package is either mailed to the applicant or remains in the Admissions Office for the applicant to pick up. In the latter case, an admissions officer will inform the applicant when the package is ready.
As NPU is following the trend of the information age, it is likely that the admissions officers will provide the acceptance documents to the applicant via e-mail except for the I-20 form, of which an international student must receive the original form.
- Important: You should carefully read the documents in the acceptance package.
- The admission checklist provides you important information on the action items which you must do by the deadlines given.
- Review the evaluation report made for you. You are welcome to contact or see an admissions counselor if you have any questions regarding the evaluation. For those who are unable to come to NPU immediately, you are advised to come soon after you move to this area or as soon as you can find time for the discussion.
