Abstract:
The speaker will be present his experience with Socially Relevant and TimeGrab in the context of the following two subjects: 1) Globalization, Mobilization and Personalization- The transformative role of mobile and social technology in the global economy. 2) Social Economics- How social media and social commerce are providing opportunities for companies, governments and organization to reach and engage their target markets.
Introduction to the speaker:
Dr. David Parpart, CEO and Founder for Socially Relevant, developed the TimeGrab tool helping audiences to access better and quality brands of large retailers and corporation. TimeGrab allows users and customers to engage socially relevant and related contents and material on social networks or mobile devices.
He also created the company of Thriving Life Care to provide premium wellness services to the greater Silicon Valley community with several locations offering integrative healthcare treatment and services. He has been managing small businesses from the age of 14, with his first business as livestock and field management. As an undergraduate, he also employed 6 employees for a painting company which he created and managed day-to-day business operations. He worked at Bradley Ogden’s Parcel 104 and received many awards and distinctions in San Jose’s top restaurants. He supported himself in graduate school with these work experiences.
With diverse interest and knowledge in healthcare, wellness, social networking, he also has passion for activities such as mountain biking and snowboarding; he also has intellectual pursuits in science and the mathematics.
Dreams and Aspirations: Build a company based on excellence and quality to streamline processes that are innovative and worthy of winning prizes, such as the Nobel Peace Prize.

Abstract:
We all have accents - most of us have multiple accents. The talk will examine the processes, stages and forces around language acquisition with primary focus on pronunciation.
Introduction to the speaker:
Don Salting holds a PhD in Linguistics with a focus in Phonology. Besides teaching at the university level and in an intensive ESL program, he worked for many years as a linguist in the software industry. This work included developing interactive accent-reduction and automated language proficiency tests around speech recognition technology. He also developed taxonomies and lexical infrastructure for search engine and translation applications.

Abstract:
This seminar will focus on the meaning of sustainability, that is, the ability to maintain a certain status or process in existing systems. First, the criteria that make a process "sustainable" will be detailed, giving examples on how these criteria are applied in ecology. Then, the major energy sources will be screened to understand if their production can be defined as "sustainable".
Introduction to the speaker:
Chandra is a Ph.D. student in Plant Science at Cambridge University, UK. He is attending the Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University, sponsored by the Fulbright Commission. Currently he is working as a project manager at Renewable Fuel Technologies, developing an operation plan for slash biomass recovery in the Northern Californian forest. He served as a research fellow at the University of Florence, Italy working on tree physiology and analysis of woody tissues. He graduated in Agricultural Engineering in 2005 from the University of Milan, Italy.
Stefano is currently attending the Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University, sponsored by the Fulbright Commission. In 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Reliability Engineering from the University of Florence, Italy. He worked with General Electric Oil & Gas on reliability of Liquefied Natural Gas compression trains. He received his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florence. He's a registered industrial engineer in Italy with 5 years of experience in strength and vibrations of structures and turbo-machinery.
