Introduction to the speaker:
Kameshwar Eranki has over 18 years of experience in the software and IT industry. Kameshwar has held leadership and product management positions at Oracle Corporation, Cisco Systems, and Sun Microsystems. He has authored six books in software and Web technologies published by renowned publishers, contributed to several IEEE standards, and published extensively in IEEE. Published standards are now adopted by ISO and by industry world-wide.

Currently, Kameshwar is spearheading process improvement and technology adoption in developing a product portfolio building customer experience and service delivery channels to transform how a high-tech organization delivers customer value.

He is currently the CEO of VajraSoft Inc., a leader in Cloud/SaaS, BI, SOA applications and SaaS product development and services delivering top quality solutions to Macys, Bloomingdales, Navistar, PPG Industries and other customers. VajraSoft Inc. is also launching its Mobile Apps to the global market.

Abstract:
Silicon Valley companies are expected to have a hiring growth of 15% in different areas in the next two years. Big companies claim they have difficulty hiring highly skilled people. With most of the middle-level jobs being eliminated, there is more demand for highly skilled jobs. Silicon Valley companies expect to have full-time and part-time positions available a year from now.

The goal in this seminar is to bring the audience up-to-date with the latest trend in Silicon Valley in both engineering/design and also business job markets. I will be discussing how NPU students should focus their studies so that they are better prepared for the job market when they graduate.

Introduction to the speaker:
Jahan Ghofraniha got his undergraduate degree from Sharif University of Technology and his master’s and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada with specialization in digital signal processing and communications system theory. He has held numerous positions as senior and principal engineer in small and large companies in Canada and the U.S., working on application of signal processing and wireless communications. He is currently the director of the systems engineering group in a wireless company working on development of 4G base station. He has been involved in undergraduate and graduate level teaching at universities in Canada and the U.S. for over 14 years. More recently he has been the Dean of the School of Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnic University and in charge of developing extensive programs for master’s and doctoral degrees. He has been teaching advanced courses in application of digital signal processing and wireless communication classes with an emphasis on the hands-on aspect. He has also been an adjunct professor with some local universities in Silicon Valley and has conducted numerous workshops in the U.S. and overseas. His area of research is in the advanced MIMO systems and increasing throughput for wireless communications systems, cognitive radio, cross layer optimization, and power amplifier linearization techniques. In the DSP area he has conducted research in advanced audio, data compression, and application of statistical signal processing.

With the pervasive and ever-increasing use of the Internet by the target markets, marketers are required to include the Internet in their marketing plan. Dr. Nik Tehrani explains the importance of e-marketing and presents the relationship between e-marketing and e-business. The exponential growth of e-commerce has changed the face of retail and service marketing. To remain competitive in the marketplace, marketers must include the virtual world of marketing in their plans, thus helping sellers develop various marketing strategies.

Introduction to the speaker:
Dr. Nik Tehrani teaches E-Business, Management, and Marketing courses at California State University - East Bay, University of California - Berkeley extension, and Northwestern Polytechnic University in Fremont, CA. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in Electronic Commerce from Northcentral University, holds an MBA with a specialization in Executive Management from Pepperdine University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering.

Dr. Tehrani is also the President and CEO of Savitron, Inc., an Electronic Manufacturing Solution Company. Prior to Savitron, he was the Global Director of Program Management at Sanmina-SCI, a leading EMS provider focused on delivering complete end-to-end manufacturing capabilities and highly complex solutions to technology companies around the world; the Managing Director and Founder of Majital Solutions, a Manufacturing and Engineering Consulting Company; VP of Sales and Engineering of ACI, an Electronic Manufacturing Company; and VP of Operations of CoMan Manufacturing, Inc.

Introduction to the speaker:
Dr. George Hsieh, President of Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU), has been dedicated to the fields of science, technology, and management for more than three decades. His human resource management techniques and effective teaching methodologies, coupled with the object-oriented educational model of student learning, have successfully transformed thousands of individuals into successful professionals. Under the leadership of Dr. Hsieh, NPU has rapidly become one of the outstanding institutions in Silicon Valley. For over 23 years, NPU has been serving the students from over 20 countries as well as local community and helped thousands of people to explore their potentials, help them to take the challenge and achieve their goals.

Dr. Hsieh also has been very active in supporting the advancement of higher education in the international communities, particularly in Asian countries. In the past twenty years, he has visited more than 200 institutions of higher learning and many high tech districts/parks in China, Taiwan, HK, Japan, Korea etc. and more than 100,000 attendees have attended and benefited from hundreds of speeches, presentations and lectures given by him.

In a great vision of “boundless campus”, Dr. Hsieh initiated Global Education Consortium (GEC) in March 2006 to promote the cooperation and resource sharing among the higher education organizations around the world, and as a result, make the learning opportunity available to more and more students in different countries. Now over 80 member colleges and universities from Taiwan, China, Korea, Philippine, Chile and Vietnam participate in GEC.

In her presentation, Rekha Mahadevan will compare the work cultures of India (similar to most Asian cultures) and the U.S., and discuss how individuals from different backgrounds and geographic regions can work together to achieve business success.

Through real life examples, Rekha will offer insights on the values and work styles of individuals from India as well as those from the U.S. and discuss typical challenges they face when working together. In addition, she will offer best practices to overcome differences, be fully engaged, and work towards common goals.

Rekha Mahadevan is the president of India Business Consulting (http://www.india-businessconsulting.com), a cross-cultural consulting, coaching, and training firm that specializes in increasing business effectiveness in corporations working between the U.S. and India. Through a combination of interventions, IBC provides solutions to its clients’ business challenges both in the U. S. and in India, in such areas as building effective US / India teams, managing across geographies, and building high performance U.S. – India organizations.

She has a B.S. in Business Management from Florida International University and has several certifications in Cross-Cultural Communication from the Institute of Cross-Cultural Communication in Portland, Oregon.
